FAQ
How does Fwrd work?
Fwrd uses a user-created iOS Shortcuts Message automation to receive an incoming text and send it from your iPhone to an active Slack, Discord, or Telegram destination.
Do I need a separate phone number?
No. Fwrd routes messages received on your existing phone number and SIM card, so you do not need a virtual number or secondary line.
Does my iPhone need to be powered on?
Yes. Your iPhone must be powered on and connected to the internet. Delivery also depends on the availability and limits of the destination service.
Can I filter which messages get forwarded?
Yes. Use the Sender and Message Contains criteria in the Shortcuts Message automation so only matching messages invoke Fwrd.
Are there any message limits?
The free plan includes 15 forwards per calendar month. Fwrd Pro removes that monthly limit. Neither plan has a per-message fee. Apple, your carrier, and destination services may apply their own limits.
Is my data private?
Fwrd processes routing on your iPhone and does not store message contents on Fwrd servers. Messages are still sent to the destination services you choose, where their privacy policies apply.
How do I set up Fwrd?
Install the public beta with TestFlight. Connect a Slack, Discord, or Telegram destination, create a Message automation in Shortcuts, add Fwrd’s Forward Message action, and select Run Immediately. Send a harmless test SMS to check delivery.
