Can You Get iPhone Texts on an Android or Fire Tablet?

By Fwrd · · Updated

Not with the built-in tools: Apple’s Text Message Forwarding only reaches your own Mac, iPad or Apple Vision Pro, and Google’s and Samsung’s tablet texting pairs with an Android or Galaxy phone. What works is forwarding new texts from the iPhone to an app the tablet already runs, such as Telegram, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email. The tablet needs no SIM or phone number for that, but it’s one way: you read texts there and reply from the iPhone.

What you need: the iPhone that gets the texts, on and online, with iOS 26 or later for Fwrd. On the tablet, a chat app or inbox it can open.

Why can’t an Android tablet sync iPhone texts?

Because Apple’s syncing only reaches Apple devices, and Google’s and Samsung’s tablet texting pairs only with an Android or Galaxy phone. None of them pairs a tablet with an iPhone.

  • Apple. Apple’s forwarding page (checked October 17, 2026) says Text Message Forwarding shows your iPhone’s SMS, MMS and RCS messages on your Mac, iPad and Apple Vision Pro, all signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple’s Messages app doesn’t run on Android or Fire tablets.
  • Google. Google Messages help (checked October 17, 2026) says an Android tablet shows what’s on your Google Messages mobile app, paired from your phone, and the phone needs Android 5.0 or higher.
  • Samsung. Samsung’s Call & text on other devices (checked October 17, 2026) needs a Galaxy phone with active service, signed in to the same Samsung account as the tablet.

An iPad on your own Apple Account is different: Apple’s forwarding does reach it, as whether an iPad can receive SMS explains.

Which tablets can get iPhone texts, and how?

Every one of them, through a chat app or inbox, but none through a built-in sync from an iPhone.

Tablet Built-in sync from an iPhone What it can open instead
Samsung Galaxy Tab No: needs a Galaxy phone Telegram, Discord, Slack or Microsoft Teams from Google Play, or email
Pixel, Lenovo and other Android tablets No: Google Messages pairs with an Android phone The same apps from Google Play, or email
Amazon Fire tablet No Microsoft Teams, Discord’s bookmark, or email in a browser

Telegram, Discord, Slack and Microsoft Teams each have an Android app on Google Play (checked October 17, 2026). Amazon’s Appstore lists Microsoft Teams and a Discord bookmark that Amazon describes as a link to Discord’s mobile website; Telegram and Slack didn’t appear in a search of it on October 17, 2026. Telegram also lists web apps on its apps page.

How to forward iPhone texts to a tablet

Add Fwrd’s action to a Message automation in Shortcuts on the iPhone, and pick a destination the tablet can open. These steps use Telegram, because one chat with your own bot shows up on any Android tablet signed in to your Telegram account. On a Fire tablet, pick Microsoft Teams or Discord instead; the automation is the same.

  1. Make a Telegram bot. In Telegram, message @BotFather, send /newbot, and follow its prompts. Copy the token it gives you, open your new bot, tap Start, and send it any message. The Telegram guide shows how to find your chat ID.

  2. Add Telegram in Fwrd. Open Fwrd, tap +, and choose Telegram. Paste the bot token and chat ID, tap Send Test Message, then save with the tick.

  3. Create a Message automation. On iOS 27, open Shortcuts, tap Library, then Automation, then +. If you see Describe a shortcut, tap Edit. Tap Automation, then Message. On iOS 26, open the Automation tab, tap +, and choose Message.

  4. Choose which texts to forward. Choose Message Contains (on iOS 27, change Sender to Message) and type a word the texts share, such as code. A single space forwards any text with a space in it.

The trigger reading “When I receive a message where Message contains Code”
  5. Make it run without asking. On iOS 27, tap the arrow beside the trigger and check that Confirm Before Run is off. Under ⓘ, then Privacy, check that Allow Running When Locked is on. On iOS 26, choose Run Immediately, then tap Next and Create New Shortcut.

  6. Add Fwrd’s action. Search for Forward (on iOS 26, tap Add Action first) and add Fwrd’s Forward Message to All Destinations. Tap its Message field and choose Shortcut Input (on iOS 26, Shortcut Input, then Message). Tap back to save (Done on iOS 26).

  7. That’s it. New texts with your word now show up in Telegram on the tablet on their own, with the iPhone unlocked or locked.

For email, add Apple’s Send Email below Fwrd’s action with Fwrd’s output, a subject, and Show Compose Sheet off; Apple’s action does the sending, as the email guide shows. The automation guide covers both iOS versions in detail.

Why use Fwrd for this?

Because it needs no account, reaches eight destinations, and is free for 15 forwards a month. We make Fwrd, so here’s our case for a tablet without its own number:

  • No account, and no Fwrd servers. Texts go from the iPhone straight to the chat or inbox you pick.
  • Eight destinations. Email, another phone or iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, and your own webhook. Fwrd posts to Slack, Discord, Telegram, Teams and webhooks itself; Email, Messages and WhatsApp send through Apple’s or WhatsApp’s own action after Fwrd’s.
  • Filters. Every destination can keep only texts with your words, ones that look like verification codes, or ones that arrive at certain hours, which matters on a shared family tablet.
  • The price. 15 forwards a month free, then $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US.

What forwarding can’t do

  • It’s one way. A reply typed on the tablet comes from your chat account, not your iPhone number.
  • New texts only, and only ones that match the automation. Old conversations and pictures stay on the iPhone.
  • The iPhone stays on and online. After a restart, unlock it once; an iPhone that isn’t unlocked for three days restarts itself.
  • Shortcuts needs a rule. A single space misses texts with no spaces, like a one-word reply or a bare link.

Questions about iPhone texts on tablets

Can an Android tablet with a SIM get text messages?

Some can, but not your iPhone’s. Google says some tablets with cellular service and a SIM can send messages without a phone, working like a mobile phone. Those texts use the tablet’s own number, so they don’t include anything sent to your iPhone.

Can I get my iPhone texts on a Fire tablet?

Yes, by forwarding them to an app the Fire tablet can open. Amazon’s Appstore lists Microsoft Teams and a Discord bookmark, and Fwrd posts to both itself. For email, add Apple’s Send Email after Fwrd’s action and open that inbox on the tablet.

Can I reply from the tablet with my iPhone number?

No. A reply in Telegram, Discord, Slack or Teams comes from your account in that app. Replies from your number still come from the iPhone, or from a Mac or iPad on its Apple Account.

Does it cost anything?

Fwrd is free for 15 forwards a month, and a text counts once however many places it goes. Fwrd Pro removes the limit for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US.

Want your iPhone’s texts on a tablet?

Fwrd adds one action to a Shortcuts automation on your iPhone, so matching new texts reach a chat app or inbox you can open on any tablet. Start with 15 free forwards each month.

Free for 15 forwards a month. Pro removes the limits on forwards and filters and adds a Never Forward list, for $4.99/month or $29.99/year, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan for eligible customers.
