Can You Forward iPhone Notifications to Another Phone?
By Fwrd · · Updated
Not all of them: iOS has no setting that sends every app’s notifications to someone else’s phone, and apps can’t collect each other’s notifications to pass along. What you can do is see them on your own Apple Watch or Mac, sign in to chat apps on the second phone, and forward new texts with a Shortcuts automation.
What you need: the iPhone that gets the notifications, and the second phone’s number or a chat app on it. To forward texts with Fwrd, you also need iOS 26 or later.
Why can’t an iPhone forward all its notifications?
Because Apple keeps notifications on your own devices. The main way Apple gives another company’s app the notifications of other apps is its Accessory Notifications framework (read October 18, 2026), and it’s narrow:
- It’s for the companion app of an accessory you develop, not for another phone.
- It works on iPhone only, and only on devices in the EU signed in with an Apple Account set to an EU country or region.
- You choose which apps’ notifications are forwarded: all, none, or some.
Outside that, no app on your iPhone can read the notifications other apps post, so no app can send them to a friend’s phone or an Android.
Where else can your iPhone notifications show up?
On your own Apple devices, and in apps that already sync across phones. Each source below was read on October 18, 2026.
| What you want | What works |
|---|---|
| Notifications while your iPhone is locked | Apple Watch paired with your iPhone (Apple) |
| Every notification on your Mac | iPhone Mirroring, not available in the EU (Apple) |
| A non-Apple watch | Its maker’s app, using Apple’s Bluetooth notification service (Apple) |
| WhatsApp or Telegram chats on a second phone | That app’s own multi-device sign-in |
| New texts on another phone | A Shortcuts Message automation |
A few details from those pages:
- Apple Watch. Apple says a notification appears on your watch or your iPhone, but not both. When the iPhone is unlocked, you get it there; when it’s locked or asleep, it goes to the watch, unless the watch is locked.
- Mac. iPhone Mirroring needs a Mac with Apple silicon or the T2 chip, macOS Sequoia 15 or later, iOS 18 or later, and the same Apple Account on both. It works with one Mac and one iPhone at a time.
- WhatsApp. You can link a phone as one of up to four additional devices, so WhatsApp chats reach a second phone without forwarding.
- Telegram. Its FAQ calls it a cloud-based messenger you can use on several devices at once.
None of these send your iPhone’s notifications to another person. They show your own account in more places.
What about the Notification automation in iOS 27?
It runs an automation when an app you pick sends a notification, but Apple doesn’t describe it as a way to forward one. Apple’s iOS 27 Event triggers page lists a Notification trigger: you choose the app, then filter by the notification’s Message, Subtitle or Title. The iOS 26 version of the same page has no such trigger.
Apple’s page says what starts the automation. It doesn’t say the notification’s words are handed to the actions after it, so treat it as a way to run a shortcut when, say, a delivery app pings you, not as a notification forwarder. Fwrd is built for Apple’s Message trigger, which hands each new text to the next action.
How to forward new texts to another phone
These steps send matching texts to a second phone’s number, iPhone or Android, using Fwrd’s Another Phone destination.
Add the second phone in Fwrd. Open Fwrd, tap +, and choose Another Phone. Scroll down to Recipient Reference, enter the second phone’s number, and save with the tick.
Create a Message automation. On iOS 27, open Shortcuts, tap Library, then Automation, then +. If you see Describe a shortcut, tap Edit. Tap Automation, then Message. On iOS 26, open the Automation tab, tap +, and choose Message.
Choose which texts to send. Choose Message Contains (on iOS 27, change Sender to Message) and type a word those texts contain, such as code. A single space sends any text with a space in it.
Make it run without asking. On iOS 27, tap the arrow beside the trigger and check that Confirm Before Run is off. Under ⓘ, then Privacy, check that Allow Running When Locked is on. On iOS 26, choose Run Immediately, then tap Next and Create New Shortcut.
Add Fwrd’s action. Search for Forward and add Fwrd’s Forward Message to All Destinations. Tap its Message field and choose Shortcut Input (on iOS 26, Shortcut Input, then Message).
Add Apple’s Send Message below it. Set its Message to Forward Message to All Destinations, Fwrd’s output, and its Recipients to the second phone’s number. Tap the arrow and check that Show Compose Sheet is off. Tap back to save (Done on iOS 26).
That’s it. New texts with your word now go to the second phone on their own, with your iPhone unlocked or locked.
Fwrd also adds a From: line naming the sender (turn on Include Who Sent It in Fwrd’s Settings, then choose Sender on Fwrd’s action), and lets the same text reach other places from one automation. The phone guide shows every tap on video, and the another phone page has the details.
Rather read texts in a chat on the second phone? Add Telegram, Discord or Slack in Fwrd and skip Send Message. Fwrd posts there itself, and a filter on that destination can keep only texts with words you choose, verification codes, or texts at certain hours. Another Phone can have a filter too, once Send Message sits inside an If set to “Forward Message to All Destinations has any value”; until then the automation’s word decides what’s sent.
What forwarding texts can’t do
- It doesn’t forward other apps’ notifications. Fwrd forwards texts that arrive in Messages, iMessages included. Bank, delivery and social app alerts stay on your iPhone.
- Only new texts, and only their words. Pictures stay behind.
- One way. Replies from the second phone come from its own number and go to your iPhone, not to the original sender.
- Your iPhone does the work. It has to be on and online when each text arrives. After a restart, unlock it once.
Questions about forwarding iPhone notifications
Can I mirror all my iPhone notifications to another iPhone?
No. iOS has no setting for it, and no app can collect other apps’ notifications to resend them. Your notifications can appear on your own Apple Watch or Mac, and chat apps like WhatsApp and Telegram can run on a second phone. For texts, a Message automation sends a copy to the other phone.
Can I get iPhone notifications on an Android phone?
Not for every app. Texts can go to an Android number through Fwrd’s Another Phone destination and Apple’s Send Message action. Apps with Android versions, such as WhatsApp and Telegram, can deliver their own notifications there once you sign in.
Does forwarding work when my iPhone is locked?
Yes, for texts, as long as the automation runs without asking and Send Message has Show Compose Sheet off. After the iPhone restarts, unlock it once and forwarding carries on.
Does it cost anything?
Fwrd is free for 15 forwards a month, and one text counts once however many places it goes. Fwrd Pro removes the limit for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US.
