Not on iCloud.com, and Google Messages for web needs an Android phone. You can read iPhone texts on a Mac or iPad signed in to your Apple Account, or forward new texts as they arrive to an inbox or chat that opens in any browser.

**What you need:** for a Mac or iPad, the same Apple Account as your iPhone. For a browser, the iPhone that gets the texts, on iOS 26 or later, with Fwrd and an inbox or chat account.

## Can you see your texts on iCloud.com?

No. Apple’s [list of iCloud.com features](https://support.apple.com/en-us/105119) (published April 4, 2025, checked October 14, 2026) covers Photos, iCloud Drive, Notes, Mail, Calendars, Contacts, Reminders, Find My and a few more. Messages isn’t on it, on a computer or a phone.

That holds with Messages in iCloud turned on, too. It stores your conversations in iCloud, but [Apple’s iCloud guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/icloud/overview-of-apps-and-features-that-use-icloud-mm203ae070a2/icloud) lists Messages for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, not iCloud.com.

iCloud.com does show iCloud Mail, though, so texts forwarded to your @icloud.com address can be read there in a browser.

## Can you use Google Messages for web with an iPhone?

No. [Google’s setup page](https://support.google.com/messages/answer/7611075?hl=en) (checked October 14, 2026) says the phone needs Android 5.0 or higher and the latest Google Messages app, and pairing starts on that phone. An iPhone runs iOS, so it can’t be that phone.

## Can you read iPhone texts on a Mac or iPad?

Yes, if it’s signed in to the same Apple Account as your iPhone. It lets you reply, but it’s an app, not a website. [Apple’s forwarding page](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102545) (published July 2, 2026) offers two settings:

- **Messages in iCloud** keeps your whole message history up to date across your devices, SMS and iMessage included.
- **Text Message Forwarding** shows your iPhone’s texts on a Mac or iPad, to send and receive there. On the iPhone, open Settings, then Apps, then Messages, then Text Message Forwarding, and switch on the device. Apple says Messages in iCloud has it built in.

Either way, Apple asks for the iPhone to be on, connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network, and able to send and receive messages.

## How do you read new iPhone texts in any browser?

Forward them as they arrive. A Shortcuts Message automation runs for messages that arrive in the Messages app, iMessages included, and [Fwrd](https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6759069713?pt=128544281&ct=blog-texts-online&mt=8) passes each one to any of its eight destinations, including an email inbox, Telegram, Discord or Slack you can open in a browser.

It’s the best fit when you want texts in a browser with nothing to pair:

- **No account, and no Fwrd servers.** Texts go straight from your iPhone to the inbox or chat you pick.
- **Eight destinations.** Email, another phone or iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, and your own webhook.
- **Filters.** Every destination can keep only texts with your words, verification codes, or texts at certain hours. Email needs one extra step: put Send Email inside an If in the shortcut.

Three setup facts come first: it has to be set up before you need it, the iPhone has to stay on and online, and it forwards new texts, not old ones.

## Set it up, step by step

1. **Pick where you’ll read them.** Any email address works, your @icloud.com one included, and Telegram, Discord, Slack and Microsoft Teams run in a browser too. See the [email](https://www.fwrdsms.com/iphone-sms-to-email) and [Telegram](https://www.fwrdsms.com/iphone-sms-to-telegram) pages.

2. **Add it in Fwrd.** Open Fwrd, tap +, and choose the destination. For email, type the address under Recipient Reference and tap +; for Telegram, paste your bot token and chat ID; for Discord or Slack, the webhook URL. Tap the tick to save.

3. **Create a Message automation.** On iOS 27, open Shortcuts, tap Library, then Automation, then +. If you see Describe a shortcut, tap Edit. Tap Automation, then Message. On iOS 26, open the Automation tab, tap +, and choose Message.

4. **Choose which texts to forward.** Choose Message Contains (on iOS 27, change Sender to Message) and type a word your texts share, such as code. A single space forwards any text with a space in it.

![The trigger reading “When I receive a message where Message contains Code”](https://www.fwrdsms.com/guides/steps/sc-keyword-7536b90e.jpg)

5. **Make it run without asking.** On iOS 27, tap the arrow beside the trigger and check that Confirm Before Run is off. Under ⓘ, then Privacy, check that Allow Running When Locked is on. On iOS 26, choose Run Immediately, then tap Next and Create New Shortcut.

6. **Add Fwrd’s action.** Search for Forward, add Forward Message to All Destinations, and set its Message to Shortcut Input (on iOS 26, Shortcut Input, then Message). For email, add Apple’s Send Email below it, set its Message to Fwrd’s output, type a subject and turn Show Compose Sheet off, as the [email guide](https://www.fwrdsms.com/guides/email) shows. Tap back to save (Done on iOS 26).

7. **That’s it.** New texts with your word now go to your inbox or chat on their own, with the iPhone unlocked or locked, ready to read in any browser.

The [automation guide](https://www.fwrdsms.com/guides/automation) shows every step on iOS 26 and 27.

## Which way should you use?

Texts appear in a browser only when you forward them.

| Way | Texts in a browser? | What it needs | Reply from your number? |
|---|---|---|---|
| iCloud.com | No, Messages isn’t on it | — | — |
| Mac or iPad, same Apple Account | No, in the Messages app | The iPhone on and connected | Yes |
| Google Messages for web | No, not with an iPhone | An Android phone | — |
| Forwarding with Fwrd | Yes, any browser | Set up beforehand, the iPhone on and online | No |

## What forwarding can’t do

- **No old texts.** Only new texts that match the automation are forwarded, from the day you set it up.
- **No setting it up from a browser.** The automation is made on the unlocked iPhone, so do it before you leave the phone behind.
- **The iPhone stays on and online.** After a restart, unlock it once; an iPhone that isn’t unlocked for three days restarts itself.
- **One way, text only.** A reply in Telegram or Slack comes from that account, not your number, and pictures stay on the iPhone.
- **Shortcuts needs a rule.** A single space misses texts with no spaces.
- **Anyone with the inbox or chat can read it,** codes included, so use an account only you open.

## Questions about reading iPhone texts online

### Can I check my texts without my iPhone?

Yes, on a Mac or iPad signed in to your Apple Account, or wherever you’ve set up forwarding. New SMS texts still come through the iPhone, so it has to be on and connected for either. A Mac or iPad with Messages in iCloud still shows conversations already stored in iCloud.

### Does Google Messages work on an iPhone?

No. Google says the phone that Google Messages for web pairs with needs Android 5.0 or higher.

### Can I reply to a forwarded text from the browser?

Not from your number. A reply in Telegram, Discord or Slack comes from your account in that app. To reply as yourself, use the iPhone, or a Mac or iPad on the same Apple Account.

### Does it cost anything?

Fwrd is free for 15 forwards a month, and a text counts once however many places it goes. Fwrd Pro removes the limit for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US.
